Bretten and his bugs....

It is surprising that Bretten isn't petrified of bugs after having a sister like Jaylee, who goes hysterical if even a fly lands on her! Bretten seems to like bugs and loves to read bug and spider books. That's what he likes to read for bedtime stories...lol! He's right on track to be like my little brother Danny...haha! When Danny was little he would spend hours every day looking for bugs, lizards, scorpions, frogs, horny toads, etc.
Anyways, Bretten has been outside all day long lately looking for bugs and catching them in his little cages. We saved some glass spaghetti jars and filled them with dirt and went and captured a bunch of ants (Don't worry, I helped him out with that one) so that we could watch them dig their tunnels and make their homes. (I haven't taken any pictures of that activity yet though).

When we went fishing a few weeks ago, my friend's husband showed Bretten how to catch the cicadas off the sagebrush and trees. They were easy to find because they are so noisy this time of year. (You've got to watch it to the very end to see the bugs).




Bretten came running inside to show me the latest bug to add to his collection...a ladybug! He even informed me that this one was a boy ladybug (We've watched A Bug's Life too many times). He was pretty excited about it! (Don't mind the blue gum he's chewing...it's not a bug...lol!)
